Rubi’s Bio

Rubi Corona-Diaz (she/her) is a first gen-Latina pursuing a degree in molecular and medical microbiology at UC Davis. She was part of Making Waves Academy’s 20th Wave and graduated in June 2023. As a Wave-Maker she loves learning, helping, and contributing towards her community, which led to her participation in the Making Waves Student Advisory Committee. She recognizes the importance of resilience in all scenarios and she wishes to use her first year experiences to push others, especially future incoming first year students. She takes pride being the girl from Richmond, the Wave-Maker, the Mexican-American and wishes that others embrace and feel comfortable within one’s own skin. Although she fears from time to time, she perseveres. As a member of Making Waves Student Advisory Council her goal is to allow others to perceive a more orientated perspective of reality, where one’s focus is not on what society wants but rather on one’s needs.
