About Phil
Phil Gordon was born and raised in South Africa and emigrated to the United States in 1967. He practices law as a partner in the Chicago office of Perkins Coie LLP, an international law firm. He lives in Evanston, IL, the home of Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate education (B.A., 1964 and B.A. Honors, 1965) at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was editor of the student newspaper and he was active in anti-apartheid activities. He studied law at Oxford University (B.A., 1967 and M.A., 1973) and moved to the USA in 1967. He attended the University of Chicago Law School (J.D., 1969). His law practice involves private equity and corporate law. In addition to being a board member of Making Waves Education Foundation, he has been actively involved with the following organizations: Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies; American Jewish Committee; Lyric Opera of Chicago; International Churchill Society; and Balliol College, Oxford. Phil and his wife Norma Gordon have three children and ten grandchildren. Phil is an avid but ineffective golfer.
