Inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders! We’re looking for business, healthcare, and STEM professionals to volunteer at our Making Waves STEM and Business Career Exploration Day, an exciting event for 9th and 10th grade students exploring their future careers as a part of our new Career Spark program.

Share your story and give back to your community​

For many high schoolers, the future feels uncertain. They’re trying to figure out their careers without ever having the chance to explore possibilities, talk with professionals, or build the skills to step confidently into a career path.

That’s where you come in! As a volunteer speaker and mentor at the Making Waves Business and STEM Career Exploration Day this November, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Share your career journey
Share your personal education and career journey and insights. Offer an opportunity for students to learn about your company, your job, and the skills you need to be successful.

Speak on a leadership panel and support hands-on activities and discussions to help students connect what they’re learning in school to real-world opportunities.

Encourage and mentor students as they grow their curiosity, confidence, and career readiness.

Join us on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Community Youth Center in Concord, California! The Making Waves STEM and Business Career Exploration Day will include a panel conversation and Q&A, networking, and hands-on career activities with high schoolers.

About Making Waves

Making Waves supports thousands of students from low-income backgrounds through the lifecycle of their education and employment journeys. We partner with students – as early as 5th grade – in imagining the possibilities for their future, finding their purpose, and making intentional decisions toward their goals. Then, we provide the scholarship funding and personalized coaching to help make those dreams a reality.

Impact

At Making Waves, we’re opening doors to economic mobility. At Making Waves Academy, the A-G requirements are built into the curriculum so nearly all high school graduates are eligible for California State University and University of California admissions. From there, our proven college and career success program makes higher education affordable and graduation attainable.
