Few things excite me more than supporting students on their journey to fulfilling their career goals—this work truly brings me joy. Helping students reach their full potential and pursue their dreams is something I deeply value and this job allows me to do this every day. College is such an incredible time for self-discovery and exploring the many career paths available, and it’s a privilege to support you along the way. Let’s work together to turn your dreams into reality!
Miles (he/him) is an enthusiastic Career Coach at Making Waves Education Foundation. In this role, Miles strives to help students see the potential they possess to positively impact the outcome of any situation life may throw at them. As a native of California, Miles spent his undergraduate years at Fresno State where he earned a BA in criminology with a minor in business. After working as a police officer in Concord, CA, he realized he was not impacting his community in the way he envisioned, so he resigned. He then went on to earn his MA in organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco. While in graduate school, he was privileged enough to work as a College Completion Coach at College Track Oakland where his passion for coaching and supporting young scholars aligned. Eventually, he went on to work as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission at the University of San Francisco. At USF, he supported students from across the country reach their goal of attending and graduating from a four-year institution. Miles finds joy in helping students live up to their potential, which he believes is limitless.
Try harder. You are capable of so much, but sometimes it requires you to study harder, put more effort into studying for exams, apply for more internships and challenge yourself. Put the extra effort in now and watch how amazing your life can be.
My favorite college memory was when I studied aboard in Torino, Italy. From traveling to neighboring countries on the weekend to learning Italian, the whole trip was a dream and something I think about often. I can still taste the stracciatella gelato from my favorite shop to this day.
I watch anime. I have been watching a show called One Piece for the past 20 years. No, it has not ended yet (lol). The show will probably air for another five years and I can’t wait to see how the story ends for the Straw Hat Crew.
