About me

My approach

As a coach I am here to support you holistically in school, in your social life, and in your transition to the workforce.

My bio

Ashley Allston (she/hers) is a College Success Coach, Transition Specialist at Making Waves Education Foundation. In this role, she supports Wave-Makers with matriculating through and graduating from college. Ashley received her bachelor’s degree in African American studies from UC Berkeley and her master’s degree in education and entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania. Her background includes experience in college access for high school students, program development and curriculum development, and entrepreneurship with her own social justice company, My Doll Education. Ashley is originally from Sacramento, California, but has lived in the Bay Area for nearly 10 years. She is excited about the opportunity to work with Making Waves Education Foundation because they value their students and staff.

If you could do college over again, what is one piece of advice you would give yourself?

Study abroad, maybe even use an extra semester to do it.

What is your favorite college memory?

Living on the African American Theme Floor my freshmen year, and studying domestically at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

What led you to your current role?

I became a coach because I was also a first-gen college student who understands the obstacles and barriers folks with similar backgrounds face as they enter college. I am passionate about giving the support I wish I had in college.
