Ana Calderon

Financial Services Manager
Nice to meet you!
About me

My approach

Navigating through the college financial aid process can be daunting. However, I am here to provide the guidance and resources for students to graduate with very minimal debt.

My bio

Ana Calderon is a Financial Services Manager for Making Waves Education Foundation. In this role, she supports Wave-Makers by providing financial aid advising to ensure they graduate from college with minimal debt. Ana was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. when she was three years old. She is the oldest of five children and grew up in East Palo Alto, CA. She is a first-generation college graduate. In 2001, she was awarded a full scholarship to UC Berkeley as an Incentive Awards Scholar. She received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. What she finds most meaningful about working at Making Waves Education Foundation is supporting students with their yearly financial plan and administering their scholarship. By providing financial assistance, this allows students to have more time to focus on their studies.

If you could do college over again, what is one piece of advice you would give yourself?

It is okay to ask for help. Attend office hours, your professors are there to help.

What is your favorite college memory?

Attending Summer Bridge, a summer program where I met so many people.

What led you to your current role?

During high school, I was part of a nonprofit after school program that provided me with the academic support I needed. They also guided me through the college application process. As a result, I graduated from UC Berkeley debt-free. I am giving back to my community every day.
