This Making Waves Education Foundation program offers you and your family the chance to receive 1-on-1 guidance completing FAFSA and financial aid forms plus personalized college coaching and support applying for our College and Career Success Program.

1-1 support for filling out FAFSA and getting financial aid for colleges and universities

FAFSA and financial aid processes can be confusing – Making Waves is here to help! You’ll have 1-1 expert guidance from the start of the process (making your account) to applying for federal and state financial aid all the way through walking you through your financial aid packages and the most cost-effective college and university options for you. Meetings with Financial Coach Mr. Miguel Mendoza can be held in English or Spanish.

Checklist for FSA ID and FAFSA meetings

1. Sign up for a meeting with Mr. Miguel Mendoza

Mr. Miguel Mendoza, financial coach at Making Waves Education Foundation, will walk you through the financial aid forms and setting up an FSA ID.

Mr. Mendoza is on campus (in the college and career center). Señor Mendoza habla Español y Inglés.

2. Get your materials ready

Here is what to bring to the meeting.

Wave-Makers:

  1. Copy or picture of social security card
  2. Personal email address

  3. Date of birth

  4. If you filed taxes, please bring 2024 federal tax returns

Parents:

  1. Copy or picture of social security card/s of both parents (if parents are married/live together). If parent/s does not have a social security card, please bring picture of front of State ID/Driver License or consular identification

  2. Personal email address for both parents (if parents are married/live together)

  3. Date of birth for both parents (if parents are married/live together)

  4. Month and year one parent moved to California

  5. If your parents filed taxes together, please bring the 2024 federal tax returns. If parents are married/living together, but filed separately, please bring both 2024 federal tax returns

Personalized college coaching and support applying for our College and Career Success Program

The transition from high school to college can be overwhelming. Making Waves’ College Transition Coach Ashley Allston is available at the Making Waves Academy campus to support seniors with the transition to higher education and applying to our Making Waves College and Career Success Program.
