Making Waves Education Foundation’s college and career success program provides need-based scholarships and pairs students with a support system of Making Waves’ college, career, and financial coaches.
Partnering with students from low-income backgrounds, people of color, and first-generation college students, Making Waves aims to help students graduate from college with minimal to no debt and setup for their first job.
Our college coaches provide guidance for exploring what makes you ‘you’ and for growing your strengths. From choosing a major and mapping a path to timely graduation to setting goals and building relationships–our coaches are here to support you on your entire educational journey.
Our financial coaches help keep your Making Waves scholarship, FAFSA and financial aid forms, college budgeting, and financial literacy skills on track, so you focus on your studies and graduate from college with minimal to no debt.
Our career coaches support college students and recent college graduates on all things career – whether it’s exploring your career options, making a post-grad career plan, finding internships and jobs, improving your resume, growing your interview skills, and more.
We are here for you throughout your entire college experience and beyond. You’ll grow your unique strengths and develop your academic, financial, and job options. Unlike many scholarships that are based solely on academics, Making Waves welcomes students from across academic majors and only requires a minimum 2.0 GPA since that is typically required for college applications.
My life story could never be told without Making Waves being a part of the equation. Without the educational backing and community I’ve had over the years, I wouldn’t be me. Making Waves did–and still does for us–what unfortunately the education system can’t do for many, which is provide a foundation of resources and preparation that I believe is absolutely necessary for a fruitful future.
Making Waves educated me and my family on higher education and gave me the opportunity to explore a different community and environment, which led me to choose the career I have today and discover other life passions.
Making Waves prepared me for the challenges of college and medical school. The mentorship and resources fostered my academic potential, and the supportive community encouraged and inspired me, and made me proud of the community I come from.
