Wave-Makers Recycling Their Success: From Making Waves Academy to UC Berkeley Law

“It is an absolutely amazing feeling to know that I have made history,” shared Leajé Morris, the first Making Waves Academy alumni to graduate from UC Berkeley School of Law and the first in her family to become a lawyer. “It is truly unreal and is an absolute blessing. I would not be here without God, my mother, my Making Waves family, and the discipline that I have maintained throughout this process,” she shared. “It is very gratifying to know that I can inspire other young students of color, especially those who come from a similar background as I do.”

Celebrating More Than 100 Wave-Makers Graduating College

This year, more than 100 Wave-Makers celebrated receiving their degrees from more than 20 colleges and universities across California and the United States. Supported by Making Waves Foundation’s college success program, known as the College and Alumni Program, or CAP, the majority of Wave-Makers are first-generation college graduates. The program provides scholarships, one-to-one coaching, financial literacy services and more to support students in graduating college as quickly and with as little debt as possible.

14 Pittsburg High School Graduates Earn Scholarships and Coaching for College from Making Waves Foundation

Making Waves Foundation recently granted scholarships and one-to-one coaching support for college for 14 graduates from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, California. The 14 students joining the Wave-Maker community from Pittsburg are planning to go to a range of four-year colleges and universities as well as two-year community colleges. The majority will be first-generation college students.
