The scholarships and coaching from Making Waves made attending UC Berkeley attainable for first-gen college student Ale Paz, who has found community on campus, studied abroad, and completed a global internship. “College has given me so much freedom to explore these opportunities and figure out what’s best for me. It’s been a great journey,” Ale said.
Making Waves’ scholarships and coaching is open to students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, and first-generation college students from any of the nine Bay Area counties.
Making Waves’ college and career program is now open to all Bay Area counties. The program provides scholarships and partners students with coaches, financial coordinators, and career specialists.

We are offering scholarships for Bay Area high schoolers from low-income backgrounds. Students will also be enrolled in Making Waves’ college and career success program.
You could earn up to $20,000 in scholarships by texting and being on TikTok. Twenty students from the Bay Area will receive scholarships – and be enrolled in Making Waves Education Foundation’s college and career success program.
Making Waves Education Foundation welcomed 15 recent Pittsburg High School graduates into its college and career success program, which provides scholarships and partners each student with a college coach, financial coordinator, and career specialist.
“Whatever you want to be in life, be the best you can be at it,” shared Allison Cubillas, a first-gen graduate from UC San Diego who graduated debt-free and started a full-time role at Meketa Investment Group.
The application period is open until February 20, 2023 for Making Waves Foundation’s college and career success program for Pittsburg High School graduating seniors. Our college and career success program offers scholarships, coaching, and budget planning to support you on your path to graduating college with minimal to no debt and set up for your first job.
At Making Waves Foundation, we have a new recipe for impact: the Wave-Maker Success Framework. Based on insights from students and the expertise that our coaches have been implementing for years, this framework consolidates our tried-and-true college success program and coaching resources in a way that establishes an entry point for students and a measurable plan for their college and career success.
“It is an absolutely amazing feeling to know that I have made history,” shared Leajé Morris, the first Making Waves Academy alumni to graduate from UC Berkeley School of Law and the first in her family to become a lawyer. “It is truly unreal and is an absolute blessing. I would not be here without God, my mother, my Making Waves family, and the discipline that I have maintained throughout this process,” she shared. “It is very gratifying to know that I can inspire other young students of color, especially those who come from a similar background as I do.”
